TerraTech ist eine physikbasierte Open-World-Sandbox, in der du Fahrzeuge und Maschinen aus modularen Blöcken konstruierst. Als Prospektor erkundest du fremde Landschaften, besiegst rivalisierende Techs und sicherst dir deren Bauteile. Kabinen, Räder, Flügel, Antriebe, Waffen und Schutzsysteme lassen sich frei kombinieren; Gewicht und Physik beeinflussen unmittelbar, wie deine Konstruktion fährt, fliegt und kämpft.
In der Kampagne erledigst du Missionen für verschiedene Konzerne, sammelst neue Teile, baust Rohstoffe ab und stellst Komponenten her. Kreativmodus und Gauntlet setzen auf freies Bauen beziehungsweise Zeitrennen; Online-Modi ergänzen PvP und kooperatives Spiel. Windows, macOS und Linux gehören zur gemeinsamen PC-Version und werden nicht als eigene Plattform-Gamekeys geführt.
