Wolfpack verlegt den Zweiten Weltkrieg in das enge Innere eines deutschen U-Boots vom Typ VII C. Statt ein ganzes Schiff mit einem einzigen Klick zu befehligen, arbeitest du hier direkt an den Instrumenten: Kurs und Fahrt einstellen, Tauchtiefe kontrollieren, Funkmeldungen austauschen, Ziele orten und einen Torpedoangriff vorbereiten. Besonders spannend wird das, wenn mehrere Spieler gleichzeitig auf ihre jeweiligen Aufgaben angewiesen sind.
Im kooperativen Onlinemodus bildet ihr eine U-Boot-Besatzung. Der Kapitän koordiniert die Mannschaft, während Navigation, Ruderlage, Tauchmanöver und Funk- beziehungsweise Horchdienst eigene Arbeitsschritte erfordern. Der Torpedodatenrechner wird von Hand bedient; zum Orten von Geleitzügen nutzt ihr unter anderem Periskop, Karte und Hydrofon. Mehrere unabhängig besetzte U-Boote können gemeinsam auf Jagd gehen. Wer lieber allein spielt, kann die Simulation laut Steam auch mit KI-Besatzung ausprobieren.
Wolfpack konzentriert sich derzeit auf Gefechte gegen zufällig zusammengestellte, von Kriegsschiffen eskortierte Konvois. Du musst Ziele beobachten, einen günstigen Anlauf planen, die Schusslösung berechnen und anschließend möglichst unentdeckt entkommen. Der Reiz liegt weniger in schneller Arcade-Action als in der Abstimmung einer Mannschaft und der glaubwürdigen Bedienung der Technik. Die Entwickler orientierten Instrumente und Abläufe an historischen Vorbildern.
Vor dem Kauf beachten: Wolfpack ist ein Early-Access-Spiel für Windows-PC über Steam und unterstützt aktuell ausschließlich Englisch als Oberflächensprache. Eine fertige Karriere-Kampagne ist auf der Steam-Seite als Entwicklungsziel beschrieben und darf nicht mit dem vorhandenen Gefechtsmodus verwechselt werden. Prüfe beim Preisvergleich die Aktivierungsplattform und ob eine Internetverbindung für den gewünschten Koop-Modus verfügbar ist.
