Dunebound Tactics ist ein rundenbasiertes Tactical-RPG mit Roguelite-Struktur, in dem du eine Gruppe Überlebender durch eine lebensfeindliche Wüstenwelt führst. Deine Karawane folgt den Elios-Leylinien auf der Suche nach einer neuen Heimat, während Ressourcen, Crewplätze und jede taktische Entscheidung über das Überleben der Expedition entscheiden.
Die Kämpfe drehen sich nicht nur um Positionierung: Deckung und Gelände lassen sich zerstören, verschieben oder neu erschaffen. Du kannst Eis- und Explosivsäulen setzen, Minen und Fallen vorbereiten und Gegner gezielt in gefährliche Bereiche drängen. Zwischen den Gefechten rekrutierst du Überlebende, entwickelst Klassen und Traits weiter und stattest deine Gruppe mit Modulen aus.
Jeder Run verändert die Welt, Quests und Gefechte prozedural. Niederlagen wirken trotzdem weiter, weil frühere Karawanen Module oder sogar Überlebende für spätere Versuche hinterlassen können. Besonders düster ist das Ressourcenmanagement: Verwundete Figuren lassen sich heilen – oder für Elios opfern, um die Karawane am Laufen zu halten.
